Fondamentale il contributo della Direzione generale Archivi del Ministero della Cultura, il cui sostegno ha reso possibile un’estesa adesione degli Archivi di Stato su tutto il territorio nazionale. Questa capillarità consolida il ruolo centrale degli archivi pubblici come custodi del patrimonio documentario e strumenti attivi nella costruzione di un futuro consapevole, accessibile e collettivo.
Durante la Notte degli Archivi, saranno oltre 160 gli eventi gratuiti organizzati in tutta Italia: mostre, incontri, proiezioni, spettacoli, visite speciali, laboratori e podcast originali offriranno al pubblico occasioni uniche per esplorare la memoria storica e riflettere sulle sue implicazioni future. Un’attenzione particolare è rivolta anche al mondo della scuola, con il contest La scuola racconta un archivio.
La Direzione generale Archivi e la rete degli Archivi di Stato contribuiscono così a fare di Archivissima una piattaforma culturale strategica, che mette in dialogo passato e futuro, valorizzando il patrimonio documentale italiano in chiave innovativa e partecipata. Un’occasione per ribadire che gli archivi non sono solo luoghi della memoria, ma anche incubatori di idee e visioni per il domani.
Di seguito l’intervento del Direttore generale Archivi, Antonio Tarasco:
“Anche quest’anno la Direzione generale Archivi del Ministero della Cultura è orgogliosa di rinnovare il proprio sostegno ad Archivissima – La notte degli archivi, giunta alla sua ottava edizione.
Il festival, patrocinato dal Ministero, si inserisce pienamente tra le priorità su cui lavoriamo ogni giorno: la valorizzazione del ricchissimo patrimonio documentario conservato negli archivi e la sua promozione attraverso linguaggi contemporanei, capaci di raggiungere un pubblico ampio e variegato, fatto non solo di esperti e studiosi, ma anche di cittadini appassionati di cultura.
Il tema scelto per questa edizione, Dalla parte del futuro, è un’eco che nasce dal sogno di mondi possibili, e anche impossibili. Un invito a immaginare ciò che ancora non esiste, ma che può essere creato. Gli archivi custodiscono il passato come si custodisce un seme: con cura, con memoria, con speranza. E nel silenzio delle carte, tracciano invisibili sentieri verso ciò che verrà. Il futuro, se davvero appartiene a tutti, si costruisce come un tessuto vivo: fatto di fili diversi, intrecciati da relazioni, accesi da differenze, cuciti con gesti di ascolto e condivisione. Nasce al plurale, come gli archivi. Che non sono mai solitari, ma comunità di voci, luoghi in cui ogni storia trova spazio, ogni frammento ha un senso, ogni passato può diventare domani.
I 150 Istituti archivistici che fanno capo alla Direzione generale Archivi, tra Archivi di Stato e Soprintendenze, sono custodi di un patrimonio di storie inestimabile. Luoghi dove il passato prende vita e dove è possibile intraprendere viaggi personali, come quelli legati alla riscoperta delle proprie radici attraverso le ricerche genealogiche, oppure collettivi, per comprendere meglio i percorsi che hanno costruito la storia delle comunità e del Paese.
Un viaggio che si arricchisce grazie alla bellezza architettonica dei luoghi che ospitano questo patrimonio: edifici storici, palazzi monumentali, antiche dimore nobiliari. Visitare gli Archivi di Stato significa anche scoprire il valore artistico e culturale degli spazi che li accolgono. Luoghi preziosi, che grazie all’intesa tra la Direzione generale Archivi e l’Agenzia del Demanio, si aprono sempre di più alla cittadinanza, diventando centri culturali multifunzionali capaci di ospitare eventi, mostre e momenti di condivisione.

Archivissima 2025: State Archives starring in Archives Night
From June 5-8, 2025, Archivissima, the Italian festival entirely dedicated to the promotion and enhancement of archives, returns. Now in its eighth edition, this year titled Dalla parte del futuro (On the side of the future), the event celebrates ten years of Archives Night, a highlight scheduled for Friday, June 6, with record participation: nearly 500 organizations involved, including 47 State Archives.
Fundamental was the contribution of the General Directorate of Archives of the Ministry of Culture, whose support made possible an extensive membership of State Archives throughout the country. This capillarity consolidates the central role of public archives as custodians of documentary heritage and active tools in building a conscious, accessible and collective future. During Archives Night, more than 160 free events will be organized throughout Italy: exhibitions, meetings, screenings, performances, special visits, workshops and original podcasts will offer the public unique opportunities to explore historical memory and reflect on its future implications. Special attention is also paid to the world of schools, with the contest “La scuola racconta un archivio”.
The General Directorate for Archives and the network of State Archives thus contribute to making Archivissima a strategic cultural platform that puts past and future in dialogue, enhancing Italy's documentary heritage in an innovative and participatory way. An opportunity to reaffirm that archives are not only places of memory, but also incubators of ideas and visions for tomorrow.
The intervention of the Director General of Archives, Antonio Tarasco, follows below:
“Once again this year, the General Directorate of Archives of the Ministry of Culture is proud to renew its support for Archivissima - The Night of Archives, now in its eighth edition.
The festival, sponsored by the Ministry, is fully in line with the priorities we work on every day: the enhancement of the very rich documentary heritage preserved in archives and its promotion through contemporary languages, capable of reaching a wide and varied audience, made up not only of experts and scholars, but also of citizens who are passionate about culture.
The theme chosen for this edition Dalla parte del futuro (On the side of the future), is an echo that comes from dreaming of possible, and even impossible, worlds. An invitation to imagine what does not yet exist, but can be created. Archives guard the past as one guards a seed: with care, with memory, with hope. And in the silence of the papers, they trace invisible paths to what is to come. The future, if it really belongs to everyone, is built like a living fabric: made of different threads, woven by relationships, kindled by differences, sewn with gestures of listening and sharing. It is born in the plural, like archives. Which are never solitary, but communities of voices, places where every story finds space, every fragment has meaning, every past can become tomorrow.
The 150 archival institutes under the General Directorate of Archives, including State Archives and Superintendencies, are custodians of an invaluable heritage of stories. Places where the past comes alive and where it is possible to embark on personal journeys, such as those related to the rediscovery of one's roots through genealogical research, or collective ones, to better understand the paths that have built the history of communities and the country.
A journey that is enriched by the architectural beauty of the places that house this heritage: historic buildings, monumental palaces, and ancient noble residences. Visiting the State Archives also means discovering the artistic and cultural value of the spaces that house them. Precious places, which, thanks to the agreement between the General Directorate of Archives and the State Property Agency, are increasingly opening up to citizens, becoming multifunctional cultural centers capable of hosting events, exhibitions and moments of sharing.
